In the previeus post I mention that I remembered a tutorial by Julieanne Kost about printen and loding a sheet of paper to het a small book. Since it is a rainy Sunday afternoon it is a nice moment to try it out.

As in the tutorial I set up my print settings. Instead of working with colomns and rows I work with the custom page set up. It is a bit of trial and error but I am very happy with the results.

I made 3 books;

1. Landscape combined with flowers.

2. Just landscapes

I looked for lines and tried to align them with each other.

3. Flowers only

One of the scans I used for the background and than the flowers on top.

The Lightroom documents look like this:

You might be able to see that it is hard to predict how the end results might look.

The paper

At first I used heavy A3 paper, Hahnemuller Photorag 320gr. This is harder to fold but feels good and has a warm tone. Later I tried rice paper A4. The book becomes a bit to small and I came to the conclusion that I am not good with this. At this moment we have holidays but after that I have machines to help me with it. Tomorrow I am going to print double sided. I can put a stable in the middle and cut the pages on top at the bottom.

Conclusion

The advantage of this print method is that it is fast and cheap. You can easily see if a page design works or not and it is also a nice way to leave your portfolio somewhere. You could of course confirm another cover on it. They were sold in the store for € 5, which is quite a lot if you can run a little production.
