I did some research on generating sound out of the image, or based on the image. I didn't go deep in the material and it still intrigues me and is in the back of my mind. I like to see wether I can go further.

Today I spoke with a colleague about software, initially After Effects and we came from one subject to the other and in the end I showed him some of the experiments I did for the MA.

He told me seeing the 3D print he thought about vinyl prints. He asked me if it was possible to decrease the hight which of course can be done and then play it on a turntable.

Very interesting idea.

When I succeed in making a vinyl my husband won't be happy if I use his playing device but I saw a cheep and mobile solution for it a couple of weeks ago that I can use for testing. The bus on the image below.

What was also very exiting in the talk with my colleague is that he told me that he had a rainmaker in his family. His family name is Veraart.

Not knowing that he was family I wrote about the rainmaker in one of my earlier blogs October 2019: https://maassen3.wixsite.com/blog/post/sp-w4-cloud-seeding

For the thoughts on how to make a vinyl.

  • I uses the left image with low contrast.

  • Made it the same on the left and right site the same

  • Then used the disturb > polar filter to make it round

  • Cut a round shape

  • Made it into a bump map

  • Made a solid 3D object

  • Changed the Z-as

This is half way the image have to se how I can make the typical circles in there and can interfere is with the 3d object and see how to play it.

Questions:

  • How thick is a vinyl (doesn't matter placing the bus on it)

  • Are there similar objects as the but that are a more fit for my subject

  • what is the distance of the circles of a vinyl and how many do I place there?

I also saw a tutorial on 3D printing a vinyl that works with the sound waves.
