Starting this module I saw a lot of lectuures by professor Herman Russchenberg from the climate institute at the University of Delft about climate change and clouds. He was the inspiratie for my fascinatie for clouds.
That is the reason I sent him a mail to thank him and I added a pdf with my photo's. Today I got a mail back:
"I am honored that you have chosen this subject through my lectures. Thank you for this. I like your photos - and they are also interesting. They are worth a longer viewing"
I got a mail by a design award commision with the question to sent my work (they wrote what work they saw on my Behance page)
So it took me about 4 hours to choose the 5 images, They had to be square and exact the right dimensions and not all my images do look good in square. All the texts had to be 500 words max and I had to device my artist statement into a technical part, inspriration, him, yearbook (in the third person), education, exhibitions and more.
At the end I got with the payment part and then I found out that it would cost 400 euros. I just stopped on the side and closed the side. But still learned a thing of two.
Today I got this mail (and was surprised because I didn't respect it.
We are sorry to inform you that the images you have uploaded for your design (Dutch Mountains/#94728) or the descriptive text provided did not pass the preliminary tests that checks the following aspects: essential design quality, visualization & presentation characteristics, and category compliance. This means that your design could be still eligible for winning the award but your design will not appear on the annual results book unless you make some modifications. The main reason is for rejection was indicated as:
Third-Person Narrative Required: Please do not use the first person narrative such as ( I, We, My, Our ) in your textual descriptions, especially for unique properties and yearbook sections. You should write in third-person narrative to ensure press members could easily take your text and place in their own publications without paraphrasing; this also requires the text to be nice, and down to earth. (I didn't in the yearbook part but didn't see that I was not suposed to do it with unique properties.
The jury member also rated your design's likelihood of winning the A' Design Award from a scale of 0 (min) to 10 (max) based on the insights gathered in previous years, and gave your design a score of 6 out of 10. A Likert score of 6 means that: If nominated, your design is likely to win a A' Design Award. Your design is less likely to receive runner-up status and your design is very less likely to receive participant status. Please note that this is the personal opinion of the preliminary jury member and is not 100% accurate, however our research over a data set of 2500 previous entries show that, 90% of the time, the insights of the preliminary jury members are very close to the final result. Please remember that you can improve your score by improving the overall presentation quality by following the notes by the jury member.
Additional Preliminary Jury Notes and Suggestions:
* • You could upload a logo for the client / studio / brand section, this logo could be either your logo or it could be the client logo. I don't have a client logo and the text told me that I dind't need one.
We have also checked your nomination category and it is okay. (You have chosen to nominate your design for the A' Photography and Photo Manipulation Design Award).
