IC w11 Uta Barth

I read the interview with Uta Barth and even though our photos are different. A lot of what she says has an agreement with my work.


Barth's work is about looking, the visual perception just like Dibbets'. The difference is that she compares the lens to the human eye while Dibbits says that seeing the lens is in no way realistic. Barth's work is about looking at humans, while Dibbits' is about looking at the camera. That for me about making elements in the photo visible that are not visible when you view the photo.


Barth examines that look. She has several projects for this, which all revolve around the same question. The fact that it is possible that different work can be made with the same theme is very reassuring because my work, despite the fact that it all examines the same thing, can look very different; is approached from different points of view and also uses different techniques. I think that this diversity makes research better, less straightforward and more interesting for both me and the viewer.


Barth says in the interview, "I think serious artists repeatedly ask the same central questions, but this should not be confused with consistent style. I'm always excited when a change in signature style opens new doors for exploring a core idea."

I find this use of a part that makes photography typical photography very interesting, because I have also made a whole series about light. And Dibbets researches the perspective.


Maybe I will find out that I am not so much researching clouds but the question of how an image reappears in 3D after it has been converted to a 2D image. What are you left with. How does it change, What becomes important and what you no longer see. Definitely something to keep in mind.
