I started this master with the idea of taking a critical look at what I had done in the previous 30 years with photography. I thought there was no consistency in my work.

I soon found out that what I always had considered being separate projects did have coherence. This is due to research into and experimentation with the medium. I have the feeling that I can now continue with that discovery and with the project clouds revealed that I have been working on over the past year.

I also discovered that I was, unconsciously influenced by Jan Dibbets. This is what I wrote to him and he answered my letter.

He thanked me for my letter containing some interesting comments. He noted that I was not one of those photographers who see the essence of what matters in what they photograph but in how you do it. This is rare, he reports.

He believes that from the moment of its invention photography has never been understood and has gone down in history completely out of place. He does notice something of an unconscious understanding of this in my work.

He gives me the tip to read 2 books, both of which I have already read: Vilem Flusser towards a philosophy of photography and the catalog for the exhibition pandora's box.

He wishes me luck and tells me to stop teaching and studying; just to go on creating work.

I really hope to meet him ones in person.
