In the 19th century photographers were seen as technicians and wanted to be seen as artists, making photography in an art form. They were know as Pictorialists. They wanted to make work to be an object of art. The work had to express personal emotion. They modified their images, used all kinds of print technics to get aesthetics, beautifull results.
They aimed for emotional impact, rich and delicate images, and poetic interpretations.
In this century, a new, digital pictorialism shows because of the possibilties digital editing tools are providing. There is also a growing interest in analogue and noble processes.
It is that combination that is interesting to me. Combining the traditional with the digital, handwork versus machine. The ultimate goal is to take beautiful pictures that evoke an emotion with the viewer.
The result of the leaf on which I transferred a photo. (The photo is more beautiful than the magazine itself).

Something to do, and investigate into, more.
